Home to Bebel and her family, Brazil is also a home to Alex. We want to share this home – and the relaxed vibes of Buzios – with you. Hopefully we can also give you an excuse for a little vacation. 

You have lots of options for staying in Buzios, from hotels and pousadas (inns) to AirBnBs. We’ve put together some recommendations below, which are all centrally located (for the wedding day, the venue, CasaMar, is a short cab ride from the town center). If you have any questions, get in touch with us.


Be sure to pack a swimsuit! Buzios is a vacation town with over 20 beaches and at this time of year, the water should be very comfortable for swimming. During your visit (and we hope that you’ll stay a few days!) you can explore the town and beaches on foot, by car, or by water taxi. Travel & Accommodation

Buzios is approximately 3 hours drive from Rio de Janeiro.

If you're arriving from abroad, you will probably fly into one of the two major airports, Galeão-Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport and Santos Dumont Airport and can transfer direct from there into a car/bus to Búzios.

Rent a car from the airport, or take an Uber direct to Búzios (approx. R$600 / £81 / $105). If you want to carpool with others, get in touch with us — we can help coordinate a pick up from the airport.

There are also frequent bus services from Galeão-Antônio Carlos Jobim Airport, which take about 4 hours, and costs around R$100 / £14 / $17.

There are lots of options for accommodation in Buzios – from small inns to house rentals. In general, if you want convenient access by foot to activities and restaurants, we recommend staying near the Buzios tourist center, Rua das Pedras. Some hotels we recommend:

  • Zendaya Resort - if you're looking for more of a luxe-beach resort vibe

  • Insolito - gorgeous boutique hotel a bit outside the main tourist route

  • Casas Brancas - an alternative luxury boutique in the heart of town 

  • D’Blue Buzios - lovely, tucked-away hotel that is still conveniently central 

  • Auberge de la Langouste - a simple and charming pousada in a great location – with the kindest people!

For the wedding: Beach formal and festive! Dress for dancing and beach walks. (Given sand and grass at the venue, you might find flat shoes without heels a bit more comfortable – but don’t let us talk you out of the ‘fit!)


As for the rest of your stay, bring lots of comfy beach clothes – shorts, dresses, anything that keeps you comfortable in the heat. Be sure to pack some layers (light sweater, long-sleeve shirts) as it gets cooler in the evenings.

If you're able to join us the day before (Friday, 10 Oct.) we'll be having a relaxed day at the beach (Praia Azedinha) from around 11am. Let us know in the RSVP if you might be able to join, and we'll be in touch to coordinate.

Likewise, the day after our wedding (Sunday, 12 Oct.) we'll have a little lunch somewhere local and laid-back in Buzios. We'll share more details following up on the RSVP, as well.
